The Shining Review (Re-watch Version)

REDRUM...REDRUM...REDRUMMMM...

I just went back to the Overlook Hotel and things just got more darker, freakier and crazier this time than the last time i set foot there. This time around,a freakin' old lady tried to strangle me! The worst thing is,she was buck ass nude.Talk about horrible.Anyway, just re-watched Stanley Kubrick's epic classic horror film,The Shining last night and this 2nd viewing was just so much better than my first. The performances/acting just got so much better.Mainly Danny Lloyd's,and yes of course,Jack Nicholson's.Jack Nicholson's famous scene this time improved in my perspective and it has never been so scary and insane than ever before.Danny Lloyd's redrum scene was more creepy and (IMO) disturbing,i really loved his scene more though. The score and music sounded more terrifying and eerie, specially during the horror scenes. The horrific images just mixed well with the horrificly great score/music.The cinematography was still great,of course.I was amazed even more with the cinematography in the maze scenes (both in the beginning and end) and also, with the scene where Danny loiters around the hotel with his tri-cycle.It was still stunning. The very final scene in the ending still shocked and amazed me more than it amazed and shocked me before. The best thing that happened on my re-watch is,i was able to understand things in the plot that i didn't understand before.Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is still a terrifying yet great movie that will/may creep you out and might also knock the living soul out of you (figuratively,of course). It just has high replay value which will make you want to see it again and again and again. Also,i just realized that horror movies don't need to have so much gore and blood to be good. All the requirements for a horror movie to be great or at least good are great acting, horrifying images that are actually scary,a nice script/plot,terrifyingly great and eerie score and the essential,a great director that actually knows how to direct a film (no offense for horror movie fans who love badly directed films with great amounts of gore).Mix all of that and voila! You've got a good/decent horror movie.Well,The Shining didn't have great amounts of gore but it had an equal amount of blood. But it did had incredible acting from the actors, horrifying images, terrifying score and music and not last but the least,a highly respected, great director who really knows how to direct films.Respectively,Mr.Stanley Kubrick :)) .

Even though this is the re-watch review,I still give The Shining the same rating that i gave it before in my "first viewing" review.A respective and well deserved 8.7 stars over 10.
